I like to tinker about, so many of the projects I do are just for fun or have no relevance to my current work. These are some of my past, current, and planned projects. However, it is not an exhaustive list and will be updated in the future, so have fun exploring!
Current Projects
ESP32 Based E-Paper Smartwatch
I am currently designing, building, and programming an ESP32-based e-paper smartwatch, the idea was that I wanted to test out my new electronic skills on a project that would be useful. The ultimate goal is to have a working smartwatch that I can use day-to-day. I chose the ESP32 platform because it is something that I would like to use again in the future for smart devices and other projects. I chose an e-paper screen because I wanted to conserve battery life and always have good visibility throughout the day.
Backburner
Farnsworth-Hirsch Fusor
I am attempting to build a Farnsworth-Hirsch Fusor however due to the nature of the device (low pressures, high voltages, radiation, etc) I am postponing the project until I can have a clean dedicated space to work on it. I am currently working on getting a workshop to build larger and more precarious projects.
EZ80 Device Prototyping
I was working with Zilog EZ80 processors as an introduction to device design. I realize how good this processor is to play around with as an introduction to microelectronics. The processor is very much like a SOC however it has the bus broken out. I do not know for sure if it can be programmed in C or C++, if it can perhaps an Arduino compatible board would be a cool introduction to microprocessors.
Previous Projects
I have worked on all kinds of projects, and a lot of these projects you can find half abandoned on my GitHub. I competed in the 200 word RPG Challenge with my submission “After“.
Project Ideas
Survey & Investigation Drone
Theoretically, you could just strap any old LIDAR module on a drone and call it a day. However, what if in addition to that, you gave it a complex GPS and data logging system with a camera tailored for making realistic continuous scans of locations. Such a drone platform would be very useful for a select group of people, on the other hand, that sounds really expensive. So someday…
